Anxiety

Many people do not realize that individuals with actual physical ailments are misdiagnosed as having a mental disorder all the time. It is a huge problem recognized by the medical and psychiatric community. [1]

Unfortunately, it is also a dangerous problem with those labeled as mental ill dying about 28% younger than the rest of the population largely due to untreated medial conditions. [2]

Here is just a short list of the medical conditions often misdiagnosed as anxiety:

  • Endometriosis
  • Lyme Disease
  • Adrenal Insufficiency
  • Crohn’s
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Cardiac Issues

This is why, while we cannot give medical advice, CCHR encourages anyone diagnosed as having a mental disorder to seek the help of a competent non-psychiatric medical doctor to rule out any potential physical ailment that could be causing the symptoms.

This course of action not only helps prevent the unnecessary medication of people with drugs that come with very serious side effects but it also saves lives.
