Synthetic Marijuana Tragedy

by | Jun 21, 2012

Many people have heard of synthetic marijuana. Being marketed as being “100% organic herbs” gives the false impression that they are natural and safe.
This is not true. Synthetic marijuana contains synthetic chemicals, originally created by scientists to study the effects they had on the brain.
Even online stores selling fake weed have disclaimers, like “we make no claims in regards to the effects of these products on the human body, mind or soul.”
Some of the reported side effects of this drug are:

  • Hallucinations
  • Suicidal
    thoughts
  • Heart
    attacks
  • Confusion
  • Agitation
  • Vomiting
  • Convulsions
  • Delusional
    behavior
  • Heart
    palpitations
  • Extreme
    fevers
  • Seizures

There have been numerous tragedies related to the use of these drugs, which are openly sold in some places, and are not well controlled. Children interested in experimenting are the main victims.
When Jake Suojanen, a 17 year old from Florida began using Spice (one brand of  synthetic marijuana.) his grades in school dropped from A’s and B’s to D’s and F’s.
But that was a minor effect, compared to the night he almost died. Jason was smoking spice with a friend, took one deep breath of the drug, choked and vomited. When his muscles began to twitch sporadically, his friend had the presence of mind to call an
ambulance.
When Jake’s parents discovered that a local gas station had sold their son the drug, they were understandably upset. They picketed the station, letting others know that the irresponsible owner was selling children this dangerous drug.
Often sold as “herbal incense” in colorful packaging, it is designed to be enticing to young people. Many counties in Florida are working to legally ban it. And many more businesses are willingly taking it off their shelves, even before it is officially made
illegal.
Parents have seen their children become addicted to these drugs, and despite the potentially debilitating side effects, their sons and daughters will not stop smoking it. One woman reported that her 20 year old son has been in a coma because of his involvement in a car accident that occurred while he was high on Spice. It is unknown if he will
recover.
A Texas woman who kicked the habit said the high was similar to that of crack. She said it is a powerful high, but so short lived that 20 or 30 minutes later she would be smoking it again. And although she had never been addicted to anything, she became addicted to
synthetic marijuana.
The calls to poison centers due to fake week exposure has been growing. In 2010 there were 2,906 calls. In 2011 there were 6,959 calls, and in just the first 3 months of 2012 there have been almost 2,000 calls.
Because there is absolutely no oversight in the production of these drugs, they can be mixed up in bathtubs and backrooms with unknown chemicals, and then sold with the phony proclamation that they are safe.
In a society where children grow up controlled by pharmaceutical drugs from the time they are in grade school, it is no surprise that the use of Spice and other synthetic marijuana compounds are gaining in popularity. From early addiction to psychiatric drugs, these children have been brainwashed with the idea that drugs are an acceptable part of
life.

When my daughter died in 2012, and I found the four empty packages in her bedroom, Scooby-snax, etc, the coroner was able to test her tissue for it. It was overwhelming and lethal. It led her to what they believe was a hallucinating storm, intense high fever and massive delusions. Similar to anyone with an extremely high fever. Noone was held accountable. Not the Bodega that sold it. No way to find who manufactered it. It was assumed to have come from China, based on the compounds found in her tissue. Carly was 22 years old. My only child. I went to therapy. Tried to find grief support groups, which helped. The new poison being fed our children is fentanyl. Again, from China. The CCP wants to destroy our youth. Obviously our seniors and disabled thru Covid-19.
