ADHD is Caused By Food

by | Apr 10, 2011

In a study conducted by Dr. Lidy Pessler, children diagnosed with ADHD were put on a restricted diet of real whole foods without additives.  At the end of the five weeks, many children experienced a significant reduction of symptoms.  Dr. Pessler stated that 64% of the children in the study were actually experiencing a hypersensitivity to food.  “Food is the main cause of ADHD,” she said, adding “After the diet, they were just normal children with normal behavior.”

A person can be allergic to a particular food or to food additives or to a combination of both, resulting in some kind of undesirable behavior that gets diagnosed in children as ADHD.  Just as too much sugar produces children bouncing off the walls, all that is needed is to find the food that is causing the symptoms and eliminate it from the child’s diet for good.

What a relief for parents to know that good old fashioned nutrition is the best first option to handle symptoms of so-called ADHD.  How reassuring it is to have an answer that makes sense of a child’s behavior rather than the false theory of chemical brain imbalance which requires mind-altering psychiatric drugs that have a laundry list of adverse side effects.

Dr. Pessler asserted, “ADHD, it’s just a couple of symptoms – it’s not a disease.”  She further stated that the way we think about and treat these behaviors is wrong.  As soon as undesirable symptoms such as temper tantrums, forgetfulness, distractions, etc. are evident, then one should start looking for a cause and the child’s diet is a good place to start.  Makes sense doesn’t it?
