Psychiatric Meds and Criminality

A recent article published in “Smart KIDS Learning Disabilities”, claiming that ADHD medication reduces criminal behavior is, without a doubt, a scandalous conscious effort to advocate the taking of psychiatric drugs, especially among young adults.
Not only are the results of the survey vague and sketchy, the short-sightedness of such a statement is painfully blatant: one merely has to consult the official list of side-effects of any such drug (of which Ritalin is one) to grasp the fallacy of such a proposition. Aggression, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts or attempts, hostility, mania and panic attacks are among the multiple reported side effects; many others remain unlisted.
While the pharmaceutical moguls publish articles promoting their products, in order to protect their multi-billion-dollar dominion, some medical experts have the integrity to proclaim the painfully obvious. One such specialist is Dr. Gant, MD, PhD, who recently published an article in American Thinker. In his words, “In every single gun massacre over the past several decades for which we have reliable information about drug use, the shooter has been taking psychotropic drugs prescribed by a physician. It may be the case that if those shooters who have committed such recent atrocities as that in Newtown had not had access to psychotropic drugs, the shootings would not have occurred. That they are occurring more frequently and are escalating in brutality… is due to the fact, not that we are legal gun owners, but that we are legal drug users.”
Dr. Gant goes on to conclude: “…we need tighter and more restrictive controls against allowing psychotropic chemicals to get into the brains of children 21 years of age and younger, during which time their brains are developing and very vulnerable.”
Anthony Gucciardi, writer for “Natural Society” states “Like virtually all massacre shooters before him, the notorious Batman shooter James Holmes is now reported to have been taking hardcore pharmaceutical drugs. In Holmes’ case, they happen to be the very same drugs that ultimately led to the early death of actor Heath Ledger. With a fix for ‘altering his state of mind’, the ‘Batman shooter’ was heavily hooked on the prescription painkiller Vicodin. Holmes even reportedly dosed up on a pharmaceutical cocktail just before the shooting.”
ADHD drugs and all other categories of psychiatric drugs do not reduce criminality!
Should anyone wonder why psychiatrists and physicians persist in peddling such criminally-damaging substances, in the guise of help, the financial rewards they reap, speak for themselves.
