Tuesday, 08 August 2010

CCHR Florida works with like-minded professionals, from all over Florida, to help raise awareness of the harms of psychotropic drugs.

Doctors, Ministers, non-profits and allied business people all come together to eliminate psychiatric abuse.

Doctors, Ministers, non-profits and allied business people all come together to eliminate psychiatric abuse.

Our Events Team has expanded rapidly and we are hosting and co-hosting events in both Spanish and English!

With one person at a time, educated and aware of their rights, we then get one person educating another, or educating a group of 100 others, and so on.

We greatly appreciate all the CCHR Florida memberships that we have and we welcome you, too, to donate.  The next person or the next group that is made aware of the alternatives to psychiatric treatment, might end up being your neighbor, your friend our your family member.

CCHR Florida-Psychiatric Living Will-Get yours!

July 11th 5:30-7:30-Bring Family and Friends

Protect your rights to reject psychiatric treatment.  A psychiatric living will is a document that you can carry with you at all times to help make known your objection to being treated by a psychiatrist or in a mental health setting.

Many people choose to carry this document and give a copy of it to their closest friend, their attorney and the offices of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights of Florida.  This psychiatric living will stands as a means to communicate their objections to harmful psychiatric drugging, electro-convulsive therapy and other intrusive practices.

Why You Should Care

The year is 2014:

Your friend tells you that she is expecting a baby, she and her husband are so excited because it’s their first.  You, too, get excited and decide to accompany her on her first pre-natal visit to the doctor.

While you are in the waiting room, you are reading the most recent copy of a mom’s magazine and begin to daydream about the day you have your first baby. (more…)

FIND OUT WHAT IS BEING DONE TO SERVICE YOU, RIGHT NOW, IN MAKING A SAFER COMMUNITY FOR YOUR CHILDREN AND THIER FRIENDS!

Pablo Picasso

(Spanish Artist and Painter. 1881-1973)

“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again. And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France.

When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. (more…)

FDA Considers Re-Classification of ECT Device

Saturday, 01 January 2010

The FDA is considering the reclassification of the device used to administer electroconvulsive therapy from its current category as a Class III medical device to Class II.

Class III medical devices have the most stringent regulatory controls. For Class III medical devices, sufficient information is not available to assure safety and effectiveness through the application of General Controls and Special Controls.

Class II medical devices are devices where General Controls are not sufficient to assure safety and effectiveness and existing methods/standards/guidance documents are available to provide assurances of safety and effectiveness. Examples of Class II devices include physiologic monitors, x-ray systems, gas analyzers, pumps, and surgical drapes. (more…)

CCHR Florida update on State Health Care Legislation:

Many of you have been receiving our email updates on the Federal Health Care legislation which calls for mental health screening of almost every generation in the United States.

Two Florida Legislators have submitted a state bill to several committees in Tallahassee that would, when passed into law, permit all Florida residents the choice to their own health care payment options and plans.  Please read through the letter and information below.  The letter is from the office of Representative Plakon, one of the sponsors of this bill.
